Description Advanced Ultra High Definition Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTPMultimedia content is more and more distributed and consumed over the open and unmanaged Internet as so called over-the-top (OTT) service without any guarantees from the various providers involved (e.g., content, service, network). This works surprisingly well due to efficient coding formats, over-provisioned networks, content distribution network (CDN) infrastructure, and adaptive client behaviour. However, more and more ultra high-definition content with resolutions far beyond 1080p will be produced and distributed over both broadcast and broadband in the upcoming years, possibly reaching its peak during the upcoming Olympic games in 2016-2020. First trials have been conducted during the FIFA World Cup in 2014. Thus, we need to plan and develop tools starting now in order to support these services to be deployed in the time frame 2016-2020.

The main objective of the AdvUHD-DASH (Advanced Ultra High Definition Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) project is to research and develop a Future Media Internet ready adaptive media streaming ecosystem.
