The gaming industry is a relatively young, yet quickly developing business, and Hamburg is known as Germany’s leading game hotspot. Gabriel offers insight and shares his experiences related to game development in Germany, focusing on his work for Daedalic Entertainment. His talk will cover how game development is conducted within the frame of larger productions, describing his experiences working on the company’s latest adventure game, Ken Follett's The Pillars of The Earth. In addition, he will also reflect upon terms and conditions of employment in the industry.
Gabriel Napetschnig is a full-time game developer and part-time illustrator from Klagenfurt. His interests, therefore, include not only the technical, but also the visual aspect of creating video games. These interests converged in his educational background: he attended HTL Ortwein in Graz, with an emphasis on graphic design, and later he studied computer science at Alpen Adria University in Klagenfurt, his personal field of interest being front-end development. At present, he lives in Hamburg and has been employed for the last three years at Daedalic Entertainment.
